COVID-19 UPDATE
As from the 4th July 2020 the DVSA have allowed driving lessons to recommence. Going forward there will be PPE in place to protect both the student and myself. Here is a list of the things I am putting in place to keep the risks as low as possible.
Masks
Masks are to be worn throughout the lesson by both the student and myself. Please provide your own mask and be wearing it before you enter the car. In the event that you don’t have a mask, I will have a supply in the car for emergencies. Wearing a mask for extended periods of time can get a little uncomfortable so breaks are more than welcome, just make sure you’re outside the car before removing it and don’t touch the front of the mask as this is considered contaminated. Use the elastic ear loops. Dispose of your mask in your own home after the lesson has finished.
Hand Sanitiser
Please wash your hands for 20 seconds (government guidelines) immediately before leaving the house and I will meet you outside the car with hand sanitiser for you to apply before entering the car. Hand sanitiser will be available in the car and for you to use as frequently as you require.
Temperature Check
Before you enter the car I will also be checking your temperature with an infrared thermometer. There is no contact, its just held close to your forehead. If you are running a temperature, the lesson will not go ahead.
Touch Surfaces
Before the start of any lesson I will be thoroughly cleaning any touchable surfaces including door handles, steering wheel, controls, buttons, seat belt, rear view mirror, seat adjusters and keys. As well as this, there will be heavy duty, waterproof seat covers in place. These will be cleaned before you enter the car with anti bacterial / anti viral cleaner.
Ventilation
Windows will stay open throughout the lessons as much as possible to create good ventilation. Air conditioning will be avoided but in extremely hot scenarios it may be used but the windows will remain open.
Cancellation Fee
During this time my normal 48 hour cancellation policy is not going to apply. I am asking people to be as helpful as possible and alert me with as much notice as they can.
Test & Trace
If possible, please have Test & Trace installed on your phone (this is an automatic update in most cases). This will help make everyone aware if one of us has been in contact with somebody with COVID-19.
Personal Belongings
When getting into the car for a lesson, please keep your personal belongings to a minimum, i.e. phone, keys, wallet/purse. If you do have bags or coats etc, these will be bagged and placed in the boot.
Check Up Text
Before the lesson I will text you and ask how you generally feel. If you have any symptoms of feeling unwell, even cold & flu symptoms, please make me aware and we will reschedule the lesson. Also if you believe you have had or been in contact with anybody with COVID-19, please make me aware and we continue when it is safe. I have a young family and would rather not take any risks.
In Summary
In summary, I know learning to drive can be stressful but I will do my absolute best to keep the lessons as relaxed and as normal possible.
Feel free to message me about anything that may be concerning you or if you think I’ve missed anything. We are all in this together and if we take these precautions, hopefully we can get back to normality sooner rather than later - Peter
